Amity
Grandmas Help Those Children Still At the Orphanage
Three Amity "Hugging Grannies" started at the Ganzhou
orphanage in April 2001. These retired women will spend time with the
babies and children, giving them extra love and attention. They'll help
make sure they're well fed and cared for and that attention is given to their
developmental needs.
Although these women are volunteers we do pay them a stipend
that covers their costs traveling to the orphanage each day and their meals away
from home. The cost for each of these Grannies is a $45.33 a month or $544
per year so we need $1632 per year to continue this very important program.
We are also sponsoring this Ganzhou orphanage girl, born
December 1987, in school.
We've also sent funds for a clothes washer and dryer for the
orphanage.
With the Hugging Grannies now at the orphanage I'm sure we'll
also become aware of other needs the orphanage has that we could help with,
especially since this is reported to be one of the poorer orphanages.
